Easter

Easter Morning

The Easter Bunny brought Luke his first puzzle.  He loves it, but he doesn't quite get it yet.  He understands how to take the pieces out.  Putting them back is tricky.  He puts them in upside down with the knob down so that they can't fit.  He loves throwing the pieces around the room though.

Eater Afternoon:
the guests

Jared got a new shirt for Easter which he is proudly wearing in this picture.  I didn't get a basket because I spent money at the end of March getting a few t-shirts from Old Navy.

Anyway, we had a little get together with some friends Sunday afternoon.  We were originally planning an empty egg hunt for the little kiddies, but on Saturday Luke had gone to an egg hunt at the Crawford's house that was (for Luke) a bit of a joke.  He didn't pick up one egg, and he threw the egg that Jared picked up out of the bucket.  So we skipped that part for our party.  We stuck with food and dying eggs.  Here's who came:

The Beans: Greg, Hayley, and Emiline

The Harrisons: Nora, Adam, and Samuel (not pictured)

The Sorrells: Justin and Nancy

Sam Boustani and Brian Wall also joined us for dinner and eggs.  They show up below.

The Game

After eating, and also while heating up the charcoal, the boys played a little basketball.

The Food

We had an Easter cookout-- not the traditional dinner I'll admit, but probably far superior.  I was adamant that it was a cookout and not BBQ.  If there's no brisket, there's no BBQ.  We had hotdogs and Boca burgers.  Anyway, just to illustrate how delicious our fare was, here are some of the leftovers.

The hit of the night: the pita chips that Sam brought.  When Jared and I lived in Utah, we got a big box of these chips for free in the mail.  As an advertising gimmick, the company sent a box of chips to people in the country who are named Stacy (spelled the superior and true way).  It also came with a big sticker that said "I love Stacy's."  Jared cut of the 's, and stuck the sticker on his computer.  I love that he advertises our love.

Emiline was the most festive feaster.

The Eggs

Jared proposed an egg dying contest.  This is Jared preparing his egg with the magic crayon before dying it.  He wanted to do a single elimination tournament, but since his egg and mine turned out so ugly (and since we had nearly 2 dozen to dye), the contest quickly diminished.

Sam is the guy in yellow.  He won the contest with an amazing "Battle of truth" egg that had a cross drawn on one side and a rather incredible bunny drawn on the other.  His dye job wasn't bad either, but it was his bunny that won him the crown.

My second egg-- much better than the first!

Luke wasn't into the eggs.  He just wanted to play with the empty paper towel roll.

The End

Baby Einstein is the perfect end to a great party!
